Earlier this week, I completely forgot that I am 23 years old, and insisted to my mother that I am 22. hmm.... As far as my brain goes, I've not easily kept my age in my head since I graduated from high school. 17 seems to be the age that somewhere, I think I still am.

and i'm back! let the crazy begin.

Tuesday, December 27, 2005

Well, I've been puttering around with my family, and haven't really had any internet time. Really, I only have ten minutes right now, cause I have to go try on bridesmaid dresses with a high school friend. Hm. Exciting happenings of the day included eating at Rubio's with another friend, her husband, and 3 year old twin daughters, and also going to a store for tall girls that they have down here.

I found 250 bucks worth of clothes, which is GREAT. I got yoga pants, cargo pants (my first pair), a funky long sleeve shirt, three short sleeve shirts, a pair of socks for women with size 10-13 feet, and a dress I can wear to the opera! It was almost all on sale. It was great. My yoga pants need to be hemmed 4-6 inches shorter, which is decidedly strange. They better open a location in the bay area is all I'm going to say...

Happy winter solstice! So, I'm back from the wedding, and I have a new appreciation for the moderate temperatures of San Jose, even if southern ca is still way warmer. It snowed on the wedding day! I don't think I've ever seen it snow like that before, so gentle and fluttery. But there was ICE on the roads and we fishtailed all over in our rental cars... Poor Steve is going to be there for most of the winter, too. He has 7 weeks of training in the same suburban town that my cousins live in.

I am jealous of my cousin. Not because she's married, but because they were able to buy a house already. It is bigger than my parents house, and... yeah. Bitter over here. I could afford a house in Oregon, which makes me mad. I want a house, bad. Then I can fufill my domestic fantasies. Of course, unlike my cousin, I wouldn't buy a house down the street from my parents.

I made ya'll a snowflake.

I decided to chop even more of my hair off! Now it is about as short as it was 5 years ago. :oP

Off to Oregon!

I didn't do so much cleaning, but I DID finally get my VCR to work in my classroom! Guess who is watching the magic schoolbus tommorow...

And my mommy is coming to school with me.

Tommorow afternoon I leave for Oregon and my cousin's wedding. I'm not sure if I will post between now and ...oh.... Mon/Tue, but if not, play nicely while I'm gone.

oh, haha. I'm getting another haircut tonight. Who knows what I'll do to it. Maybe (gasp) it will stay the same, which I haven't done for like 5 years.

The next few days will be cleaning days. Clean the classroom, grade all the papers, change the bulliten boards, clean my apartment. It is winter! No more scarecrows, no more leaf rubbings. It's all about the snowflakes and the snowmen. (Or should I say snowpeople?)

get me out of here

I had wondered about this in the past, and it appears to be true: fraternal twins can have different fathers. When fraternal twins result from two seperate uh... incidents... it's called "superfecundation." And then to really screw with your mind, there is such a thing as "half-identical" twins, where the egg kind of splits before it is fertilized and then two little spermies come along and geeeeee is it all funny and complicated. I'm not even going to mention Chimerism, which I watched something about on TV a bit ago.

I can hardly believe it, but just as I was getting healthy, I'm sick all over again! I need a snot shunt inserted into my sinuses.

One of my kids actually brought in a piece of her mother's birthday cake for me today. So sweet! So silly! Third graders are great.

Other gifts this week:
very large leaf
small, interestingly shaped leaf
giant hershey kiss
small ceramic limoges-type box with a santa claus on top that my student purchased with his own dollar
chocolate candy from germany, wrapped up in notebook paper with the santa box and tied with a pink ribbon
two drawings of a princess dress
