George on Grey's Anatomy totally has the same suitcase as me!

Oh no!

I accidentally left my Cherry Garcia ice cream out for two hours! I am so sad. 3/4 of a pint, and now it will be all funky and icy and wrong once it's refrozen.

Right now it looks like I may be moving into a house with a friend who taught 5th grade with me briefly last year. It seems to be the only option that would save me any money... Even though I could technically (according to all the rental place qualifications) be "safe" spending up to 1/3 of my income on rent, I think it would be a massive waste of money. 1/4 or less would make me much happier.

So, I think I'm in search of a 2 or 3 bedroom house closer to Steve that allows dogs. Starting in June. I hate moving! We'll see how this all goes...

As an expert in the field of horrible last names, I'm going to say that it would have been way worse to have been born with the last name of "Fart." I mean, even three year olds could laugh at you for being named Fart! That is so many years before my horrible ex-last-name could have been comprehended by your average child.

yay me!

My brother is coming to visit! If my mom was saying that, she'd say it in german. "Mein brudder" or something. I have NO IDEA why my mom likes to say that. It's like how she usually says the phrase "milk, please" in spanish. I blame it on the elective course my mom took in junior high, which consisted of a month or so of instruction in spanish, german, russian, and french.

I am so glad my school has all of next week off! I am more than ready for it. Originally it looked like Steve and I were taking off somewhere this weekend, but now maybe thats off. Of course, I could take my own trip next week... we'll see.

So far my plans are:

1. Go to library. Return the books I've had since December. (Renewed! Not late!) Get new ones.
2. Scrapbook
3. Sleep in
4. Buy something at Ann Taylor Loft
5. Return things to JC penny and that damn teacher store that overcharged me by 6 dollars because they are greedy. (The book says it costs 19.99! Why are you charging me 21.99? And why did you stick a new price tag over the 19.99 list price on the other book that said 24.99???) Cough cough... Lakeshore... cough cough.
6. Cook Steve a nice dinner so that its ready when he gets home from work, and therefore become awesome girlfriend of the day.

Here I am exactly 1 year ago. So maybe my students are right, and I DO look prettier with long hair. Yes, I do -- but not funkier! I'm much funkier right now...

I've been busy! Here's what I've been doing instead of updating my website.

1) Went to a German restaurant where a band of old fat Germans in funny outfits played a cover of "All My Exes Live in Texas." I almost died with the hilarity of it. Accordians! Old German men with funny hats and lederhosen! George Strait!

2) Made my students handmade Valentines. My mom told me she used to make heart shaped Valentines with a stick of gum attatched, and then wrote "I chews you" on them.

3) Got a haircut. I'm not sure yet how short it is, because when Glenn cuts my hair it always seems to be extremely short, but when I wash it and do it myself it miraculously seems to grow an inch.

4) Went to see La Boheme with Steve. Wore a sheer black silk dress for which I had to find a slip so the ladies with the furs and diamonds couldn't see my underpants.

Well, I kind of did start another crafty thing. Not THE crafty thing I was thinking of, but something else- wine glass charms. I think they'd be handy when having company. I did the purchasing of supplies, but I don't plan on making them for a while.

In the meantime: interminable school work and existing crafts. (Scrapbook, cross stitch.) I worked at school from 7.15 to 5.35. WAY too long, folks! Sunrise to sunset, practically. (I actually WAS away from work during 16 minutes of daylight, but I spent all of it driving.)

Want to hear the weather forecast for tomorrow? 73 and sunny. HA! Just like Monday, Tuesday, and today. I'm just going to lord it over ya'll. I was just thinking about how it was almost like good old southern california, when I made the mistake of looking at the weather in Irvine. It was... get this... 89 degrees yesterday. Did you catch that? EIGHTY NINE DEGREES. In February! I'm freaking out just a little right now, and wanting to pack up and move back to good old orange county. Now what my mom told me makes sense. Yesterday, she wanted to put on her tank top as she walked around the neighborhood, but decided not to because she thought she might get a sunburn. I thought she was exaggerating, but I guess she wasn't. It was even 84 in good old San Luis Obispo.

Everyone thinks I'm a dork, but I really do dislike the weather here and think it's too cold. Ah well. I will take pleasure in the unseasonably warm weather, while also being pissed about the fact that I could live somewhere warmer.

And here you go!

I spent last night and today during the superbowl scrapbooking. Horray for me! I actually did 5 pages- my graduation party, 5th grade science camp, our end of the year party, and the last day of school. I'll post pictures later, so I can show off. I think I did a darn good job...

Lesson went fine. Besides running short on time, I think it was okay. We'll see in two weeks what SHE thought of it.

In other news, I am tempted to begin a new craft project. AH! I know I should finish that cross stitch I have been doing off and on for 8 years (I don't like it, so I don't work on it much.) but new things are calling my name. I should never read craft blogs!!!!! They make me think dangerous things like "I should learn to knit!" and "I wonder how you embroider with those fancy fibers?"

Unrelated question: If you are a hip 19 year old Canadian girl who listens to rock and roll, are you embarrassed to be from Canadia? (Not that there is anything wrong with Canada, Michelle. I just associate it mainly with hairy lumberjacks with red noses and curly hair who scratch their bellies and smack their lips in the morning when they wake up in the great northern forests. And with cool people who make great purses.)

Tomorrow I'm going to be observed teaching a lesson plan by my ment0r teacher. Man oh man! I get so freakishly nervous and unhinged every time there is another adult in the room while I'm teaching. (Or at least an adult I think might be watching for me to screw up.)

Let's hope this goes better than the obs. for this thing went last year. Somehow, the more informal ones like this have gone horribly, while my principa1's were fine....
