babies!

today i went to my best bud stephanie's baby shower. she's having twins, due october 31st. i was the official hand steph the presents lady, and also the help unwrap them lady. (stephanie, if she has a choice, will never rip the wrapping paper at all) her mom estimated that all the stuff for the babies (what they are buying, plus gifts) will run in the thousands. yikes! two cribs, two high chairs, two car seats, stroller, playpen, clothes, diapers... evidently the girls will go through about 10 diapers a day each for a while. that means that the giant box of 228 diapers someone gave them will last about 11 days.

all this baby stuff gives me a mixed reaction. half of me thinks about epistostomies and money and responsibility, and the other is just that pre-programed girl thing of wanting a cute little baby of my very own. eek! no babies for sarah, not yet. all the teeny baby clothes and diapers are awfully adorable, but baby poop is not.
