i have 36 essays to grade. now, if it takes me 10 minutes to grade each essay, that means that the 36 will take me 6 HOURS! yeesh

one of my students blatantly and directly lied to me today. i asked her a question about 3 times, and she looked me in the eyes and lied. didn't she realize i'm smarter than that?

thanks for the link friday. somehow, i read that post and never noticed that it said "sarah" at the bottom. i was all excited about the fact that death cab for cutie was playing, and jealous that they weren't playing in san luis obispo.

hope the concert was awesome if you went. i had a pitcher of margaritas to celebrate my employmentness at a mexican restaurant. it said "a woman is like a guitar. you have to know how to play/touch her." in spanish on the wall.

gravity is stronger than time. i know this because my beloved yellow flower clock with a bee has been stuck at 9:45:35 for an unknown amount of time. see, the little bee second hand has been hovering there, unable to make it uphill. so sad! i hope it isn't dead. i like my flower clock with the little bee.

garg. i totally didn't finish anything i was supposed to have done for tommorow. this weekend was way too exciting for homework.

jonathan and i went up to san jose this morning. i now have an apartment!! my lease starts june 18. it is a one bedroom, one bath in a gated community. there is a pool, spa, sauna, excersize room, covered parking spot, balcony, and a washer and dryer right in my apartment! the rent is more than i pay now, obviously, but a similar apartment in san luis obispo is about 100 a month more. (i checked) (just now) (yikes!)

but i'm a rich teacher now.

the apartment will be 701 sq feet, all for sarah. currently, i live in an 816 sq foot apartment with three other girls. if you divide that up, you only get 204. HA i win

I have been waiting alllllll day to hear from the school, and no calls. so i called them and was told that "no decisions have been made."

when will they know? "hopefully next week."

the principal told me he'd know today. NEAARRRJJJ!!

okay, so i think i'll hear about the job tommorow afternoon. if i don't get it i will be so dissapointed.

i've kinda been planning on getting it- like thinking about who i'm going to call first, and how i will configure my furniture in the apartment i will probably get if i have the job.

also, i'm thinking about how i will be the Youngest Teacher Ever.

21? how many 21 year old teachers are there? and i look somewhere between 15 and 19. AACK! i can already imagine how the parents of my future students would react to me being 21. there will be two full months of school before i'm 22. :oP

i got a phone message from the guy who interviewed me in san jose. he called to touch bases and see if i had any questions for him. he also said that he enjoyed talking to me and that he will be finishing up interviews this week. so... i'll call him tomorrow i guess.

last night, ben and i saw a bumper sticker that said, "jesus votes republican."
it was great.

also, believe it or not there is a country song called "save a horse, ride a cowboy." it is rather psychowierd.

got back from san jose! i had in n out twice today, so that is very happy.

the job interview went well. i think i sounded pretty knowledgeable and... yes. they'll call me at the end of next week or the beginning of the week after that. (i'm thinking may 20-25)

while i was there i also found a one bedroom apartment less than 2 miles away from the school. if i get the job, i could start a lease at the end of june. :o)

it will be hard to wait until i hear..

ALSO and more importantly, i got a phone call this afternoon from a district in san jose. i had an interview with the human resources superintendent a little more than a month ago, and now they want me to do a second interview.

woohoo! i'm takin off for the bay area tommorow morning. the interview is with the principal of a certain school for a position at a certain grade level. (i know which school, but not the grade) so, i am not sure if this interview is basically a formality for the principal to meet me before i am hired, or if i am in stiff competition with 10 people for the exact same job. i wish i knew!

i will tell ya'll how it goes... my interview is at 2.15 and i think i'll try to get into town around noon. :o)

heard from that school district i interviewed at a week and a half ago. i didn't get the job.

i had a graduating class of 152, and the second person in that small group has died. (a few months ago i found out that a girl i knew died in childbirth.)

my dad called me tonight to say that trevor win'e died in iraq. i didn't even know that he'd joined the military. i guess he died two years to the day after joining. only 22 years old...

found a couple of articles about him online, with quotes from my old teachers and friends.

oh yeah. i honor of mother's day, i got to spend three hours with a three year old. i experienced the motherly joys of the public tantrum, the juice spill on the couch, and being told i'm her best friend, shortly before she grabbed my butt.

three year olds are special.

also, she had to go to the bathroom and the closest place was an auto supply store. as i carried her into the back, she asked me what some hunk of machinery was. i said i didn't know, and she wisely remarked that it was probably boy stuff.

I no like the new blogger. of course, i pretty much hate it every time that a website i use changes format. this new interface is too.... large. and too "pretty." i think it sucks arse. YOU SUCK, CHANGE!

everyone's favorite thomas is now a blogger! (or at least a live journal person.) (blogger is better.)

you should go check him out. he hurt himself playing frisbee. thomas is also 1/2 of the reason why i started listening to country music- i think i was trying to impress him.

tommorow i substitute in my classroom!

i'll probably hit the 10,000 mark in site hits tommorow. woo hoo! i remember back when i was my own 1,000th visitor. i gave myself a prize.

urrrrmmm.... i bought a pioneer bonnet in folsom. i'm gonna braid my hair one day this week, and wear the bonnet and teach the kids. it will be great, and embarrasing.

left for el dorado hills at 6.30 am friday, got there in plenty of time. the area is gold country. all around sutter's mill, where the gold rush started. in old town folsom, we met a 97 yr old woman who was folding pamphlets in a museum. she showed us her wedding ring, which was made from gold she got herself, using a sluice box on her family property. she paid the jewler a quarter ounce of gold to make it.

interview and lesson went okay- not great. i looked awesome but got four bloody skin-missing blisters in the two hours that i interviewed, gave a writing sample, and taught. they said they'll be sending out letters one way or another in a week to a week and a half. ummmm looked around the three cities that the district serves, checked out rental properties in cameron park.... had dinner with my buddy from freshman year (evan) and his fiance. (they live in citrus heights)

mom and i left town at 8.30 pm. we slept in a denny's parking lot in the middle of nowhere for about an hour, and got back to slo at 2.30 am.

my sleep cycle is all messed up right now. and i'm home alone this weekend. no roomates, no boyfriend. just me and job applications.
