What am I getting myself into...

Growing my hair out is going rather well. I was feeling all proud of myself. I remembered just why short hair rocks, however, when I had my first awful tangle this morning. :oP

We were in the newspaper after all! I was hoping that the short article posted yesterday was just a precursor to a full one with our interview and names in it, and I was right. I'm going to try to get a couple paper copies too.... My kids were seriously excited.

I'll be back... to the aquarium

At our field trip today, we saw Arnold the Governator. He happened to be making a campaign stop.

1) He is shorter than me.
2) Arnold pointed at the great white shark and said.... oh darn I don't remember what he said. But it wasn't very interesting. Observations about how it swam or something. He was just saying it in a normal speaking voice as he watched the tank 6 feet away from me.
3) He shook two of my students' hands.
4) A newspaper reporter interviewed me and the two students but I don't think we'll be in the paper. I saw the guy's article and it was really short. I assume that is all there will be.
5) But maybe I'll be on TV and not know it, cause there were lots of cameras.

I took a sudden trip to the OC this weekend, and may have found a wedding dress. Trying on those things is difficult! They tell you to dive in. You bend over and they help you start getting in. At some point the dress generally falls really fast over you until it gets stuck somewhere. This may not make sense. I need to go to sleep now.

The fuss is about this, ya'll

We're engaged!

Here is a close up of the ring. The stone in the middle is an alexandrite, and the ring itself is from the 1940's and made of platinum. Alexandrite changes color depending on the light. It is emerald green in the daylight, and purple with flashes of red in incandescent light. I am told that a unique girl gets a unique ring. I definately haven't seen anyone else running around with something like this. :o)

Enough mushy gushy.

Here is a second picture from this afternoon. Do you notice anything hilariously awful about it?

(Hint: Do you see a Pinnochio-nosed, recessed chin, inbred yucky shadow-me lurking on Steve's neck? AAHHHHHH!) Someone needs to help me fix this.

So... exciting developments in the world of Sarah. Stay tuned.

So, it looks like the cancer is a Carc!noid (hormone cell) cancer of the appendix. Appendix cancer is extremely rare, with less than 100 people a year diagnosed with it in the US. As long as they don't find that it has spread, this cancer surgery that he'll have next month will be the only treatment. No chemo.

I guess when they removed my dad's appendix, it was gangrenous and there was a tumor. (On it? Nearby? I don't know.) My parents called me tonight, because my dad has cancer. I don't even know what kind it is. I think they said hormone something but I really don't know.

He has to have another surgery in a few weeks, and supposedly he will be fine then. (After 3 or 4 weeks recovery.) I want to know the name of this cancer because I really feel clueless about what is going on...

As I said, I was told that it was going to be fine and that it wasn't that big of a deal, but I don't know if that is completely true.

Damn bobbles. Do you know how long this took me? And I have to make 123 more of them before I finish this. Thank goodness there aren't any in the middle........

I'm about to bind off the scarf for my mom's christmas present. It is 2 am because I couldn't stop until I finished the darn thing. I did about 110 rows of 20 stitches each today. 2,200 stitches. Oh my goodness. Anyways, the photo above is my next project. (The pattern is at knitty.com) If you don't like it, you won't hurt my feelings.

I haven't dissapeared, I promise... My mom is still up. We've been eating out and making crafty things, etc etc. She wanted me to teach her to knit, and she is also doing a few little sewing projects for me. (Photos later.)

It sounds like Steve may even be back a week early from his trip. Yay!
