The new moon is here! Moon Journals 2006 has officially begun. My kids will be going outside to look at the moon every night, and we will be drawing, painting, writing, etc. in class. Yay! The best thing in my classroom all year long.

no good

Since I've been gone, EVERYTHING HAS BEEN BAD.

The latest bad thing, which should be relatively easy to handle but isn't because I am so depressed and pissed off about all the other things, is that I lost one of my brand new red dangly earrings today. And I can't buy another one because they don't have them anymore and and and

gar.

Crazy neighbor lady asked me how I'd lost so much weight. She wanted to try whatever diet I'd been on. Um, I haven't lost any weight. I still weigh 135ish, same as I have for the last year...

She was thinking that I must be on some new celebrity-endorsed diet she'd heard about, and was hoping to get the details from me. Doesn't that seem like a few too many assumptions to you? I guess that is just CNL's operating procedure. She also likes to assume that I am trying to steal her man (?) from her. That would be montana man, who is probably 35-40 and wears too-short shorts. Oh my.

It is stormy and dark and windy outside, but I don't mind too much. I am on spring break! I have ten days until I have to go back to my classroom, plus Steve comes back tonight. :o)

I am celebrating by cleaning up my apartment. No one but me has been in it for two weeks, and I have been very BUSY. Also, "Summer Fresh" Lysol toilet bowl cleaner really smells like bananas.

I think that parmesan cheese is one of the best things ever to snack on. I'm about to go eat a chunk the size of my manly fist. Okay, three-quarters of my manly fist.

los bluejeans

I don't know why, but I decided to go jeans shopping tonight... It is always an ordeal, and usually ends with me not finding a single pair that fit. I mean, in the last 10 years, I've only worn two jean styles! Levis 517's (no longer made) and Lucky Dungarees Sweet & Lows in X-tra long (no longer made in extra long.) Okay, it's three if you include the Lucky brand trouser pants I bought almost two years ago.

Those were the only jeans I came across in all that time that fit me and were under... oh... $150. I usually have to pay about a hundred for jeans. Even my Levis were something like 50-70 dollars.

I never fit jeans because I need a 36 inch inseam, plus my waist is small and my hips are big. Uh, and the other wierd thing is that jeans often cut in at the front and make me look like Pudgy McStomachmeister, while simeltanously gaping at the back like they're too large. I think it's me, not the jeans, cause it tends to really confuse the salespeople. So no jeans at the Gap or J. Crew tonight. Then I went to J. Jill, where I tried on jeans that fit horribly, including one pair that I swear Steve's mom owns. Uh, lets see. I eliminated like 3 places over the phone (Your longs are only 33" inseam??? HA!) and I also didn't go to a bunch of places because I tried to find jeans at them a few months ago.

I went to Lucky, were I tried on men's jeans. They either gave me a mysteriously bulging crotch, or just.... made me look really tall and gangly. On to women's jeans! I found one okay hundred dollar pair that I bought. I mean, they're almost long enough, and they fit me really nice.... but they're distressed and I HATE that. I can wear down the backs of my jeans till there are strings myself, thank you. But I bought 'em because otherwise I would have no jeans.

On my way out I thought hmm... Banana Republic. I wonder how much their jeans cost? I ask the saleslady, and she says $68 (!!!) Whaaaaaat? How is that possible? So anyways, I have two pairs of surprisingly affordable Banana Republic jeans. One pair is on the short side, not made in long. The other is on order, in long. I think I'm going to return the nice-fitting Luckys, though, and hold out for them to start making my Sweet & Lows. My buddy at the store is calling corporate for me! I told him my daddy built their warehouse, but I don't think that matters. Too bad I only got those free pairs of Luckys back in 6th or 7th grade. :oP

I guess these things DO work on my mac...

So, yesterday I walked around Santana Row (local shi-shi fancypants outdoor mall/ritzy apartment place) looking way hot. I had on a cute dress and my super sexy heels, even though I was just meeting a friend for lunch. Oh! And nice earrings and fancy hair! I went all out.

Afterwards, I went shopping at Trader Joe's. I got to be sexy in the grocery store, and I mean... I was 6'2 1/2". Hard not to notice. It was difficult, however, to get the wine off the bottom shelf. I had to crouch instead of just bending at the waist.

As I carried my case of wine up the stairs (Uh, I only bought 6 bottles, plus some balsamic vinegar.) I saw one of my students plus her family. Then I did a quick change into yoga pants and a shirt, only to see them again. Hello! New clothes so I don't have to re-negotiate the stairs with fancy high-heels!

Today I didn't get dressed until 1, and as of right now have not left my apartment. I have big plans to empty the garbage, though.

Hey, I'm a Title!!!

Look what I did! Anyways, the "create a title" window doesn't show up on my Mac Safari browser, so I doubt that I'll be having many of them around. But I AM proud that I figured out how to make them. Plus, I found out how to make a blog not show up on my profile. What I can't do, though, is remove myself from a long-defunct group blog that I don't have admin privledges on. How do you do that???

Hot damn I need pizza

-insert scandalous dream here-

Maybe I need to restart a dream blog. Maybe it should be anonymous.

Guess who has an anonymous dream blog! If you ask me, I might be nice and tell you where it is.

I'm reading "Sideways Stories from Wayside School" in my class right now, and I replace all the damns with drats. Is that insane? I also edited "Matilda" by Roald Dahl, but to a much greater extent. You seriously would be surprised at the cruelty and meanness of the adults in that book. I didn't want my kids to be upset...

Oh, nooooooow I understand why my last PG&E bill was higher than last year's. It was the coldest March since 1897!! OH MY GOD I NEED TO MOVE TO CANCUN. ....And yesterday was the first day without rain since March 26th, but now it is raining again! (!!!) (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And according to weather.com, it is supposed to rain every day except one in the next ten days. And also according to weather.com it actually did rain yesterday, but only .01 of an inch but IT COUNTS.

obviously i am having problems with this.

The rain is neverending. For some reason, I find it ironic. I think it has to do with growing up in drought-stricken southern california. I mean, sometimes the water people told us to follow the age-old adage, "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down." And in some areas, you could only wash your car on Tuesdays!

Now I'm watching news reports about overflowing resevouirs and saturated ground creating mudslides and snickering inside my head. Don't we have no water? Am I allowed to take a 45 minute shower? Will the water police (seriously, they have these in Palm Springs) come and GET me??

Uh, I cut all my hair off. You may not be able to tell from the photo, but it is significantly different from my last haircuts, which were long on the sides. Now, my hair doesn't cover my ears. It comes to little pointy elf sideburn thingies.

I think it is almost the same haircut that I had when I went off to college. (Except for the bangs.) It has gotten shorter and shorter for the last year, little bits at a time. A year ago my hair was mid-back!

I like it, but this is as short as it gets. I think it is now time for me to restart the cycle of growing it long before I make it progressively shorter and shorter. Ha! Constant changing hair magic!

Well, we'll see. If you were a fan of pixie-cut sarah.... you're in luck! Of course, my students will be very sad. They like to tell me it was prettier when it was longer. :oP

Something I love about human nature is that we laugh when someone gets hurt. I know the reasons behind it, and find them fascinating. Laughter as a response to the unexpected, laughter as a nervous reaction, laughter of relief. It's great, and causes so many misunderstandings.
