Ridiculous school-related nightmares

I once again dreamed that I accidentally forgot to give my kids a snack and juice on the morning of the first day of school. Evidently my subconscious is very worried that one year I will forget this little ritual I have. (I am so awesome. I give them snack and juice when they first come in because "I know that sometimes kids get nervous about their new class and can't eat breakfast, but you don't need to be nervous about me.")

So in my dream, I didn't remember about the snack and juice, I was also upset because I forgot to let them ask 5 questions about me, and I also neglected to walk around the room and give my little tour schpeil. Oh, and I somehow didn't notice until the end of the day that one of my kids from last year was in my class again, instead of being in the 4th grade class he was assigned to. He just wanted to stay with me.

Augh. I've dreamed about the snack thing at LEAST once a summer since I started teaching. I hate this nightmare.

My students made posters this week about why you should vote. Here are two of my favorites:

Remember to vote. Don't forget because there's stickers!

Vote or don't complain

Underneath this inspiring slogan, two stick people are having a conversation.
Stick man 1: I'm complaining.
Stick man 2: Did you vote?
Stick man 1: No.
Stick man 2: Don't complain.

Still no real news...

I'm still knitting the same stuff, and we're still waiting to hear back about the house. On Friday the news was blahblahblah the bank says call back in two weeks. Call back.... in two weeks? Ughghhg. That would make it a month and a half after we put in our offer, and we could just be told that our offer is too low or something. Even if everything went perfectly, this would mean we'd move in at the end of July. Of course, things are not likely to go perfectly, and who even knows if we will end up with this house at all.

Can you tell I'm feeling oh so cheery about the house thing?

In better news, there is only one more week of school to go. Hurray!

Tuesday is coming. Do you have your coat?

Um, yes. It is Tuesday. No news, dudes. Except for the fact that the lender sent an appraiser out to assess the house, which we're afraid could be bad news because the house is a freaking sweet deal. What if the appraiser says it is worth $60,000 more than our offer? That, frankly, would be the truth. And it would be bad if the lender decides to not accept offers that were above the asking price yet not where they think the asking price should be. I guess the lender may not have approved the listing price. I don't know.

Stressful times at work, and then there's this at home. Bluck!

At least I have my knitting!

The shiny golden yarn is the top of an Architect's Hat made with some fabulously expensive silk and wool yarn. (Alchemy Wabi-Sabi, which normally goes for almost $30 for an 86 yard ball. I'm using this copper-gold, a teal, and a variegated green/yellow/turquoise/black) One ball was purchased at half price online , and I bought the other two balls of it with a store credit I have from a yarn store that is, sadly, having a going out of business sale. I .... uh.... also bought a giant 3.5x4.5 foot mirror from the store. We'd better own a fireplace to hang it over soon.

The grey thing is the second sock of a pair of Highland Schottische Kilt Hose for myself. I'm making Steve and I kilt hose so we can wear them to the Scottish Festival in Pleasanton in August.
