Today in class we made a movie using our new digital camcorders and iMovie. Fun fun fun! Our video is pretty darn funny, if I may say so myself. We had 2 hours to film, and then we spend another few hours editing. (More editing tomorrow.) I can hardly imagine how much work real filmmakers must do...

Look!

I have a fancy new computer for work! In order to earn this beautiful machine, I'll be in tech training class all this week, plus more time over the next year. (A total of 60 hours.) I have included my gigantic size 12 foot in the picture so that you can see just how large the laptop is. 15" widescreen Macbook Pro. Oh yeah.... (I just wish it wasn't so heavy!)

I live in the awesomest city.

So, uh... my city's mayor is currently out on BAIL after being indicted on criminal charges and BOOKED. Plus, as stated before, it is unbelievable hot. And the crazy man who sells flowers on the side of the road near where I live has one of those my-size barbie hairstyle heads sitting on the top of his van, with flowers surrounding her vacant face. Must take photo.

hot hot heat

Wow. Currently 99 degrees, and it will be over a hundred highs today and tomorrow. (105 is the forcasted high.) Thank goodness I have air conditioning, and that my apartment stays pretty cool during the day even without it...

Right again...

So.... I didn't get that phone call that I said I didn't get. Maintenance man says that the answering machine message was a robot, and mine is not a robot. Ha!!!!!!

Busy busy me

I plan to celebrate my first weekday without responsibility this summer by working on coursework! Isn't that exciting?? I've also agreed to tutor one of my students from this year along with a couple siblings. This will start Wednesday. I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'll be tutoring children ages 6-13. We'll see if this was a giant mistake.... (But at least I should make some extra cash.) How much do people get paid for tutoring nowadays, anyway?

I'm trouble!

I pulled up to my apartment this afternoon (schoolisoverthankgoodness) and was immediately disturbed by the fact that my bedroom and living room windows appeared to be open. What happened? Was there a maitenence emergency? Was I robbed?

I open the door and ...surprise! My carpets were cleaned! Kind of! I said no to the first date they gave me for my "thanks for renewing your lease" carpet cleaning, and uh... as far as I know I was never told that they scheduled me for today. I remember one phone message about the canceled date, but that is it. Maitenence man says he left me one about today.

The problem is that my floor is a horrible mess. Think of the worst you have ever seen my apartment look, and then add two more sweaters on the bedroom floor, and a couple boxes of schtuff in the living room.... They couldn't get to a lot of my carpet. I am VERY UNHAPPY. I went to the office looking VERY UNHAPPY and made sure my carpet will be re-cleaned after I have been informed. And cleaned my mess.

I really hope that I am correct that I was not notified. I also hope that the office people don't think I'm an annoying troublemaker..........

Feelings on ending this year

My eyes are burning and I am TIRED, but I will miss my students from this year. I am relieved to have the next two months to make an attempt at organization in my classroom. (The hidden places too!)

I think maybe I should extend that goal to the storage closet in my apartment. I need to finally take some piles to Goodwill, etc etc etc. And clean up all the clothes on the floor in my room, because there is almost as much down there as hanging up!

Too tired to make this more interesting. Maybe later. (naptime?)

Magic Words

I guess the magic words are "pre-cancerous." At least, that would be the words I should have used to describe my skin history if I wanted a referral for my yearly dermatologist check without going in to see my regular doctor first.

Oh well. I got to confuse my Indian-from-India doctor by describing my mom's ancestry as "American Mutt." (Where is that? Oh, uh... a mutt is a dog that is all mixed up and you can't tell what it is.) He has a good sense of humor. :o)

Concert!

I was able to go with my friend to the concert last night. We got there early, and I ended up having five (5) drinks over the six hours. That includes a shot of Jack Daniels with the bartender. I know, totally not my normal operating procedure.... In fact, it is the most I have drank while out, ever. :oP And I can say that whisky is really not too bad. I'd opt for it over vodka for sure.

But back to the music! The last time I saw Danielson, it was just Daniel, accoustic, singing out of a tree to an audience of 8. This concert was Daniel, plus his two sisters, two of his brothers (I think), and one other guy. They were dressed in light and dark green uniforms and nurse caps, and they rocked. Electric guitars, drums, bells, hand claps...... Awesome. The place was packed, and pretty much everyone I talked to had only recently been introduced to the Danielson Family. That makes me feel funny, having been listening to them for 8 years. (Can it be true?)

Oh man. I will be going to as many Danielson concerts as possible, because they are always wonderful.

I want to go to this concert in San Francisco tomorrow (Danielson Family) but I currently have no one to go with. This is bad because it doesn't even start till 10 and I don't want to be out alone in the city that late. I also probably won't have a chance to see Danielson again for several years. What to do???! Of course, if you know the music of this particular group, you know why I can't assume any random friend would uh... be okay with it.
